MDA Appoints Peter Winsor as Collections Link Project Director
MDA has appointed Peter Winsor to the post of Project Director for Collections Link, the national collections management advisory service funded through Renaissance in the Regions.
Peter joins the team at MDA from his post of Senior Collections Adviser at the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).His responsibilities as Project Director will include managing service delivery, building strategic partnerships and commissioning new content and resources for Collections Link.
Collections Link is a national partnership of more than 15 professional groups and associations, led jointly by MDA, the National Preservation Office and Icon, the Institute of Conservation.The service provides online and telephone access to advice and best practice in 16 management disciplines, from emergency planning to insurance and project management.Funded through the Renaissance in the Regions programme, Collections Link is currently being evaluated by development officers and other advisers prior to a full sector-wide marketing campaign later in 2006.It represents a key component of MLA's work to improve standards, to ensure that the collections held by a range of institutions can be effectively managed and used, and that appropriate support to do this is in place.
