    Mick Wilson holds a BSc (Education)degree from the University of Melbourne.After penance in secondary education, on-line banking and freelance consulting he has spent the last 15 years with the UN Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, largely involved in telecommunications, data and metadata interoperability tasks.

    He has been a long-standing member and User Vice Chair of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites' Working Group on Information Systems and Services; the Metadata Task Group co-chair for the UN Geographic Information Working Group; UNEP Liaison to the G8 Environment and Natural Resource Management project; an invited member to the special advisory group on metadata interoperability for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity; an invited member to the UN task force for an operational global land-cover assessment network; and an invited member to the UNESCO/ World Heritage Commission special advisory group on geo-information management.

    Mick is currently working with OGC-Australasia as an advisory consultant.
