A life-long resident of the Pensacola area, history is a second career for Jacki. After a thirty-year career working for general surgeons, she returned to school and graduated with a BFA in fine art. Her love of preserving disappearing textile art forms led her to the Public History program at UWF and she is currently writing her thesis for her master's degree in history.

When asked about her career choice, she tells everyone she chose history because she hates to see knowledge lost. Whenever she is asked what PHS does, she replies "we preserve Pensacola's history."
