The wreck caused southbound traffic to back up as it was diverted onto the access road while workers cleared spilled oil and diesel fuel, Texas Department of Public Safety trooper D.L. Wilson said.
All passengers and the four horses on the trailer were unharmed in the collision, Wilson said.
The wreck occurred about 1:45 p.m. on the I-35 bridge over Farm-to-Market Road 308 near Elm Mott, Wilson said.Heavy rain and an earlier wreck farther down I-35 caused the collision, he said.
A passenger bus slowed by traffic from the earlier accident was rear-ended by a maroon Dodge pickup hauling a horse trailer, he said.
,The (pickup) came over the bridge at a high rate of speed and locked up its brakes and struck the back of the bus,, Wilson said, adding that the pickup then collided with a Cadillac.Wilson said he was surprised no one was injured since the pickup,s middle undercarriage was almost touching the ground from the force of the impact.
