Following the press conference, David Willmon, a regional representative for the League of California Cities, which backs the measure, said a recent statewide telephone survey of about 800 respondents found 62 percent supporting 1A.

The measure is backed by numerous local governments, fire chiefs associations and police departments, as well as Gov.

Most people expect their tax dollars to be used locally and don't realize that often that isn't the case, said Dave Willmon, the regional representative for the League of California Cities.
