If you used a MasterCard or Visa card issued under the auspices of M&I Bank and your information was compromised, the bank is sending you a new card free of charge, said Mary Willmer-Sheedy, president of M&I's Janesville market.
...
Visa and MasterCard told M&I Bank which customers were affected, and the bank is monitoring those accounts for suspicious activity, Willmer-Sheedy said.
In addition, M&I is notifying those customers and issuing them new credit and debit cards at no cost, Willmer-Sheedy said.
"We take it very seriously," she said."We want our customers protected and will take whatever measures are necessary to do that."
In general, Willmer-Sheedy said, people should protect their financial cards and check their credit background at least annually.
If M&I customers have questions or need advice in how to check their credit records, they should contact a local bank representative, she added.
