Greiner Pontiac-Buick-GMC in Victorville benefited from a massive sale it launched on Sept. 30, immediately before the fee increase took effect, Sales Manager Marlene Willis said.

Also, General Motors gave a $500 credit on the purchases of specific vehicles to draw customers specifically by offsetting the fee increase, she said.

All in all, the dealership was hardly affected, as people evidently still needed to buy cars.Sales are on track for a solid January, Willis said.

"A car is a necessity," she said.
