In a recent Key West Citizen front page article, Monroe County Sheriff Office's attorney, Mark Willis, is quoted as saying the Hatch Act does not apply to Bob Peryam.

I wondered if either Mark or Bob had done what I did: go to the Office of the Special Counsel's webiste (osc.gov) and click on the Hatch Act page?

Mark and Bob might have concluded what I concluded: that someone wanting to run for office, who has a question about the Hatch Act's application to his or her campaign, should seek OSC clearance before starting any campaign activity, because the consequences of launching a campaign and then being found in violation of the Act can be disastrous.

Mark Willis contributed the $500.00 (maximum amount) to Peryam's campaign, and now appears to be Peryam's private counsel regarding the Sheriff race, which is illegal under the Hatch Act if this is what Willis is doing.
