Now I see in the Oregon Stater alumni news for December 1972, a story featuring David L. Willis, who claims that frogs may be the best organisms for assessing the environmental impact of nuclear power plants located along rivers and lakes.According to Dave, chairman of the Department of General Science at Oregon State University, amphibians not only accumulate higher concentrations of radioactive elements than fish but tend to hold them longer. (Evidently he started experimenting with salamanders and worked his way up to frogs.) Current studies, financed by the Atomic Energy Commission, make use of the western spotted frog because of its availability and the detailed life history data available from other OSU studies.

Dave Martin, OSU's associate athletic director, also acknowledged that he has discussed with Kansas State officials the possibility that the Cowboys and Wildcats -- members of the Big 12 Conference -- could meet in nonconference, season-opening games in 2013 (at Stillwater) and 2016 (at Manhattan).
In the 2013 and 2016 seasons, Kansas State is not on OSU's conference schedule. For conference members to meet in nonconference, regular-season games would be unprecedented. The idea is intriguing, Martin said, "because you bring in a quality opponent, you get a good crowd and it's an easy travel game for both schools. We've talked about it, but nothing has been signed."
OSU and TU have an agreement for football games in 2010 (Stillwater), 2011 (Tulsa) and 2012 (Stillwater), and for basketball games in 2008, 2009, >2010 and 2011.Martin and OSU athletic director Mike Holder recently presented to TU a proposal for three additional football games (2015 in Stillwater, 2016 in Tulsa, 2017 in Stillwater), along with four additional basketball games.
