    Dr. David W. WillisDr. Willis is a Distinguished Professor who joined the Department faculty in 1987.His teaching responsibilities primarily include Environmental Conservation (WL 110), Principles of Fisheries Management (WL 412), and Advanced Fisheries Management (WL 413-513).He advises and mentors both undergraduate and graduate students.He has a 75% teaching and 25% research appointment.

    Dr. Willis has numerous research projects, including one from the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station.His research primarily involves fisheries management.He is especially proficient in pond and lake management, areas for which he is internationally known.

    In 1996 he coauthored (with Drs. Flake and Scalet) the text "Introduction to Wildlife and Fisheries: An Integrated Approach".He is coeditor of the second edition of "Fisheries Techniques", published by the American Fisheries Society.In 1997 he received the Excellence in Fisheries Education Award from the American Fisheries Society.Only one university educator from North America receives this award each year.In 1997 he also received the Fisheries Excellence Award from the North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society.
