The need today for faster communications has pushed IC makers to design increasingly faster circuits.With USB 2.0, 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Hyper Transport, designers must think differently.This paper addresses some of the issues designers need to consider when developing high-speed circuits.A discussion of the circuit implementation of USB 2.0 as implemented for high, full, and low speeds, USB subcircuits, the physical layer, clock recovery, and media access controller (MAC) will all be given in the context of high-speed circuit design.
