Pastor Arthur Willis, the 95-year-old Renaissance resident who spearheaded the drive, took the challenge to the White Rock Baptist Church.The church put Willis' challenge in its newsletter, asking parishioners to "show our friend Pastor Arthur Willis that we are up to the challenge."

"It is a lot of pennies. $620 is 62,000 pennies," said Pastor Willis.But he said everyone at the Renaissance got involved in a rolling-up party."We had tea and crumpets. "It was a lot of fun."Willis contemplates a less labour intensive campaign in the future."We are going to nickel and dime them next time," he said with a laugh.For now, the Renaissance crowd has a new endeavor."I heard of a new project this morning, to help the homeless (with) blankets.We are going to get into that, I think," he said.
