The first item considered, the Heart of Alsatian Country Bicycle Race to be held on the weekend of Feb. 8-9, was presented by sponsor Andrew Willis, a board member of the Texas Bicycle Racing Association.Council members had questions about clean up costs and lost revenues. However, park maintenance contractor Ernie Ayala said the cleanup would only cost $150 at the most, which Willis agreed to pay.
    ...
Willis said the race, with a time trial, road race, circuit race and the mass start event, which is spectator friendly because of the fast laps, is more likely to draw visitors to the park and promote tourism.
    ...
Willis, who agreed to sign a liability waiver and agreement of understanding, told council Castroville would benefit from the race and all costs would be recouped."If 400 people spend the weekend in Castroville and spend an average of $200 each while in town, $80,000 in revenue could be generated," Willis told council.

Two years ago, ING Groep began selling off insurance subsidiaries in various countries after declaring property and casualty insurance was not part of its core business, Streetwise columnist Andrew Willis noted. Since that time, the company has been thought of as a takeover target, he adds.
    ...
With a Cdn$4.3-billion market capitalization, ING Canada "qualifies as a relatively decent defensive play in a lousy market," Willis writes. "The two RBC Capital Markets analysts [Westfall and Hardy] noted that the Canadian insurer does not face the same funding, capital and credit issues as banks and life insurers, as "the company has zero debt, $1.4 billion in excess capital (including debt capacity) and a conservative bond portfolio," Willis writes.

james p from Canada writes: what a surreal article ... guards at the periphery of the resort (yes, yes i know why, but do i really know why?), poor cuisine (can Willis not spell 'embargo', or would that ruin the vacation?) ... 'glimpses' of poverty outside the resort (who knew?) ... but, damn, the sausage.. and and and cappuccino (just like home) ... tolerating or playing along with what any 'Caribbean' resort really is and what it in fact countenances, regardless its star rating, requires a certain sociopathy that i guess is best treated with swims with dolphins, bikini contests and swim up bars. enjoy indeed.
