Alec joined Hydro-Logic in 1987, 20 years after joining the Meteorological Office at the start of his career.As Technical Director he has used his long experience of flow technology both in training and site audit roles.He was appointed as one of the country's first MCERTS inspectors in 2003 and is still a member of the scheme's steering committee.Alec has been responsible for development of Hydro-Logic's suite of data management software products such as HydroLog, RainArk and GaugeMan; systems that facilitate the capture, quality-control and presentation of water data on PC and local area network computer platforms.

Alec has worked on many monitoring projects as a hydrometrist and has particular broad experience of the practical application of flow measurement technology in pipes, rivers and in open-channel at treatment works.He has audited monitoring systems for clients such as British Nuclear Fuels, the Environment Agency and many other water companies.Alec also specialises in the acquisition and management of data in real-time from telemetry systems for applications such as flood warning, and was responsible for operational management of a flood warning system with his previous employer.
