    Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City has welcomed Dr. Cynthia Willingham, a physiatrist, to the hospital's medical staff.

    Willingham, who is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will serve as medical director of Mercy's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.She will also see patients at the Mercy Rehabilitation Clinic on the hospital campus.

    Prior to joining Mercy on Nov. 15, Willingham was medical director for the Hot Spring County Rehabilitation Center in Malvern, Ark.Previously, she was an assistant professor in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

    Willingham earned her medical doctorate degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.She then completed a general surgery residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, Queens, and her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she was named chief resident in the PM & R Department.

    In addition to being certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation,Willingham is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the National Medical Association.
