Caroline Willingham,First Grade Teacher
Mrs. Willingham is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga and the University of Alabama.She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and then did further postgraduate work to receive her certification for grades 1-8.Mrs. Willingham also holds a K-3 certificate.She has been teaching for over 16 years.She began her teaching career at Auburndale School in their resource program.From there she went to Presbyterian Day School, where she taught third grade.
At Woodland she has experience as Woodland's Breakthrough teacher and first grade teacher.She also enjoys tutoring children in first through fifth grades during the school year and summers.She is a second year Slingerland-trained teacher, which equips her to teach to different learning styles and modalities.She has taken a multi-intelligence classes and has attended the Kagan Institute where she took extensive training in Cooperative Learning.Having this background knowledge makes her more aware of each student's strengths and weaknesses.
"I treat my children at school as if they were my own.I try to develop each child's confidence and make them feel special in their own way by verbal and written praise."School has always been a priority for Mrs. Willingham.She has been a member of each of her children's schools' Parent Board.She has been a huge supporter of Woodland as both of her children are Woodland graduates.
