(October 16, 2005) - My brother wasn't at the Million Man March a decade ago, and he didn't go this year.He's in prison for life.

My father wasn't at this year's Millions More Movement in Washington, D.C., the 10th anniversary commemoration of the Million Man March, either.He's serving a 45-year prison sentence in Georgia.

(May 3, 2006) - I was standing in line in the Dollar Tree store recently in Olean when a blond-haired little girl who looked to be about 5 flashed a toothless smile at me. "Hello," she said.

Breea C. Willingham spent 10 years as a reporter for papers in the Carolinas and upstate New York.This piece is based on a story Willingham wrote during her fellowship in the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism at The Ohio State University.She is now a visiting journalism professor at St. Bonaventure University.
