    According to Garry Willinge, director, IBM Global Services in Hong Kong, the company is now finalising its plans with partners to roll out the e-business on-demand programme in the country.

    Shenzhen is the first Mainland city in IBM's e-business on-demand roadmap.Others include major cities such as Shanghai and Beijing.The company will back up the new services with three data facilities in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

    The Chairman of IBM Global Services, China Hong Kong Ltd, Mr Garry Willinge, will address students graduating from Curtin University of Technology at the 2002 Hong Kong Graduation Ceremony from 2pm, Sunday 2 June at the Intercontinental Hotel, Hong Kong.

    Mr Willinge, who last year was appointed as Adjunct Professor of Business Studies within the Curtin Business School, will deliver the Occasional Address to graduates, their families and friends at this year's ceremony.

    Singapore-born Mr Willinge, who holds a Bachelor of Science with first class honours, initially trained as an officer with the Royal Australian Airforce.Since1974 he has been employed with IBM Australia in a variety of science, information technology and business management roles.

    In 1990 he was assigned by IBM to the WA Public Sector, at the request of the Premier, to develop and help implement public sector management policies.

    In 1997 he led the IBM global effort that achieved the IT services contract for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and then led IBM's effort in Asia to ensure that 50,000 IBM customers successfully migrated to Year 2000 readiness.He is currently responsible for leading IBM Global Services in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region of South China.

    Mr Willinge has worked in IBM Corporation in a number of Asia Pacific and European senior executive leadership roles, over a period of more than 25 years, until 2004.

    Mr Willinge resides in Hong Kong and spends much of his time in mainland China.He serves on the General Management committee of the HK Management Association (HKMA).In 2005 he was appointed as investment and trade development consultant to the Guangxi provincial government in China.He has strong political and business links across China, from Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces in the east to Xinjiang province in the west.
