As a teenager , I wrote a letter to John Willing , a television Meteorologist at KMOL-TV in San Antonio ( Now at KTVT-TV in Dallas ) asking for advice on how I could become a weatherman when I grew up.He set me up with the basic tools I needed to pursue a career in Broadcasting and Meteorology.I consider him a mentor in the development of my career.

In 1987 , I moved to Lubbock , Texas right in the heart of Tornado Alley!.I attended Texas Tech University studying Telecommunications.I furthered my education through Mississippi State University where I became a Meteorologist in the Summer of 1997.

In association with Horn Creek Conference Grounds, Mantle Ministries will be hosting a choice of two Little Bear Outdoor Adventure Camps in October of 2006 in the majestic Colorado Rockies. (Dates soon to be announced.) The "trailblazing" ministry team will be led by evangelist/historian Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler, assisted by Mantle Ministries director Steve Ringer; and broadcasting meteorologist John Willing for much more than the weather; and joined by gifted women's seminar speaker Cindy Cone and "home front" aficionado Susan Willing for the ladies' mother/daughter breakaway sessions; with a special guest music minister leading us in praise and worship.

John Willing: The Little Bear Outdoor Adventure Camp is privileged to welcome John Willing as part of the ministry team at Horn Creek.John is an accomplished meteorologist by profession, a faith-loving husband to his wife Susan, a committed homeschool father to his three delightful children, and a faithful Christian brother in the Lord Jesus Christ.John's invaluable contribution to the camp ministries draws from his professional skills in the field of meteorology, as well as a diverse background of expertise offered in ministry-for much more than the weather.

John Willing is a native of Anaheim, California, and has made South Texas his home for over 22 years. He received his Bachelor's degree in meteorology from the University of Utah, and worked as a television meteorologist at KUTV in Salt Lake City for three years before moving to San Antonio, Texas. In 1980, John accepted the position as chief meteorologist for KMOL-TV of San Antonio.John reports that some of his most thrilling moments there were during the coverage of a record breaking snowstorm, a violent tornado outbreak, and several major flooding events. He also wrote a daily weather column in the San Antonio Express-News.John's most recent assignment has been as chief meteorologist for KTVT television, the CBS affiliate station in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area.

Above and beyond the notable blessing of a successful media career, John recognizes a greater calling upon his life.Among his most accomplished pursuits at present, John would consider co-laboring with Susan in home schooling their children, serving his church community, and ministering to the body of Christ, a rewarding and wise investment of his God-given talents for eternity's sake.
    ...
Far beyond her accomplishments in the arena of athletics and medicine, Susan now delights in her role as supportive wife to John Willing and devoted homeschool mother to three precious children, Ruth (14), Grace (11), and Jonathan (9).John and Susan share a family vision of ministry through music, performing together at recitals and various functions, with the goal of bringing glory to God along with enjoyment to their audiences.

Ever since our ministry team discovered that one of John and Susan's goals in life is to perfect their bread making skills by learning from the masters in Europe, we have recruited this amazing husband and wife duo, and made them the official teachers of our family time bread making demonstrations.
