Biography
Teresa Ann Overstreet Willige (b. June 21, 1950, Oklahoma City, OK) is the daughter of Muriel and Omega (Cannon) Overstreet.She has one older brother and one younger sister.When Teresa was six months old, her father, an ordained minister, became the pastor at Robinson Community Church in Oklahoma City.Muriel served there for 50 years, retiring at the age of 80.In 1961, the Overstreets moved to Norman, Oklahoma where Teresa attended Norman Public Schools, graduating in May, 1968.She is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
With her father officiating, Teresa and August W. Willige III (Augie) were married December 6, 1968.

Teresa attended The University of Oklahoma for two semesters in 1978.After her children entered high school in 1992, she returned to the University, majoring in Journalism/Professional Writing and in Native American Studies.In 1995, with one semester remaining to complete her degrees, she was forced to withdraw due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Since their oldest grandchild was 3 weeks old, Teresa (Granny) takes care of her grandchildren while their parents work and attend university.She is a voracious reader, especially of mysteries, and loves to play poker.In 2006, she became a member of the Heartland Regional Genetics and Newborn Screening Collaborative; co-chairs the Lay Advocate Committee and sits on the Executive Committee, the Public Policy Committee, and the Newborn Screening Committee.In 2006, Oklahoma's Commissioner of Health appointed her as the lay advocate to a committee set for the review and recommendation of guidelines for licensing Genetic Counselors in the State of Oklahoma.
