Williford stressed how important it was to encourage this kind of knowledge early, such as maintaining credit, making wise investments and "not just walking around with all the bling you can."

"A lot of our youth don't really understand investments," Williford said.

"You have kids graduate from high school and can't write a check," said Williford, who speaks to high schools and colleges about financial literacy.

"A lot of people think you have to have a lot of money to start investing," he said.

Holmes collaborated with Allstate personal financial representative Ronald Willford in June 2003 to start the Holmes Agency.

Willford has learned financial planning and investment service through a series of eight investment and sales jobs.He grew up in Bristol, Bucks County, attended Bristol Senior High School and earned an economics degree at Villanova University.Both men are Baptists and regular churchgoers, Willford said. "Christianity is a common denominator for us," Willford said.
