Yes, there is a difference in the experience of Larry Williford, a master craftsman with over 35 years of hands-on construction experience. And when customers build with him, they get the hands-on supervision of Larry Williford. He does not employ any superintendents.Every project is overseen personally by him.If a product can't be found, Larry Williford literally has the know-how to make just about anything. To top that, he has maintained the loyalty of subcontractors and suppliers. The majority have been with him since the '60s.And any one would be naive to think that this kind of longevity and dependability doesn't go a long way in the flip side of the experience -that is, the experience that home buyers have in building a home with Williford Custom Homes.
"I worked side by side today with some of the same subcontractors as I did when I was an electrician. The concrete man I use today is the same man that poured the first house I ever built in Irving," commented Larry."I have used the same cabinet company, plumbers, electricians, and bricklayers for decades. One of the trim carpenters I use today was instrumental in my development as a builder years ago.I've been buying appliances from the same dealer for over 30 years."Larry's involvement with the construction industry began in the mid '60s.In 1968, he established Irving Electric Company. At that time Larry became one of DFW's youngest Master Electricians by earning his Master Electrician license.Today, he is one of the longest-standing members of the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association, which he first joined back in 1968.
By 1970, Larry was sole owner of Irving Electric, which boasted a fleet of nine trucks and about 15 employees. At the same time, however, Larry went into the home-building business with his former partner. They built over 700 homes across Lancaster, Dallas, Forest Hill, Bedford, Arlington and Mansfield between 1970 and 1983.By 1983, Larry had branched out onhis own and built as a sole proprietor until forming another custom home-building company with his brother-in-law.Focusing on higherend homes, that company earned awards including the coveted Grand Award in one of the first Spring Tour of New Homes.TM Now, with the help of his son, Jason, Larry is once again building on his own under the name Williford Custom Homes.Williford Custom Homes builds custom homes currently prices from $280,000 to $600,000.Focus areas for the next several years will include Fairways of Walnut Creek and Twin Creek in Mansfield.Activity is also planned at Asheville, a new development in Keller."We understand that home building is an emotional process and are frankly honored and flattered when people put their trust in us to build their home.It doesn't have to be a stressful event.Larry is so laid back that he makes it fun for them, as it should be.

"Over the last 30-plus years, I've built 1,000-square-foot homes and homes well over 5,000-square feet," Larry says with a warm smile.
