The story of us… Jeff and I met while students at Texas A&M University.Although we don't know when we ‘officially' met, we knew each other through friends and buddies in the Corps of Cadets.I was a BQ (a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band) and Jeff was a member of the mascot company, Rebel E-2.As sophomores together we both had special jobs in the Corps of Cadets.I was the official Corps Bugler and Jeff was ‘ol ladies (roommates) with the mascot corporal and Miss Reveille, ma'am!Reveille VI had recently passed away and Jeff was in charge of making arrangements for the ceremony to be held in Kyle Field.

During our junior year when Jeff was E-2's gunnery sergeant and I was B-Battery's first sergeant we both were honored to become members of the Ross Volunteer Company.Throughout that year I became friends with Jeff but we were mainly just close acquaintances.

One evening after chow I was strongly urged by my buddy Liz to give Jeff a call and see if he would like to go with me.She was sure that he'd say yes as she had heard him talking about me earlier that week.So I gather some courage to call and after a long phone call and quite a bit of flirting, Jeff turned me down because of another friend he had promised to take to yell himself. Not too hurt I shrugged it off and although Jeff told me he'd take a rain check, I figured I would never hear from him again.Turns out I was wrong!Jeff that weekend strongly contemplated the idea of asking me out on a date.It is taboo to have relations other than buddy relations with a female in the Corps.Jeff couldn't think of any other reasons other than the fact that I was in the Corps, to not take me out on a date.He came over to my room the next week and asked me if I would like to go to yell with him.Of course I said yes but just our luck that week we had to move the football game because of a potential hurricane to Thursday night and the band was unable to make it to yell that Wednesday for fear that we needed more time to practice.Strike two!But all of this time was leading up to something great!Jeff proceeded to ask me out on an official date.I said yes and was so excited, changed my outfit several times and then when I was ready no one was in the dorm to give me a go on my wardrobe choice for the night.I ended up looking pretty good and the conversation never stopped the whole night. That was our official first date on September 29, 2005.A year has almost passed now and I am soon to be Mrs. Jeffrey Williford in January. The events that have happened since our first date have strengthened us and molded us into the couple we have become. While in our early years, Jeff and I both made promises to Christ and our selves to ‘save ourselves' for marriage at True Love Waits retreats at our churches.Everyday were realize more and more why God has kept us waiting for each other these 20 something years.Either I was not ready to love so deep or Jeff was not equipped to lead a Christian relationship.
