Mrs. Claudia Burriss Williford

Along with this celebration, the Church and the Anderson Community will pay tribute to two educators from the Old Reed Street School who taught for over 40 years: Mrs. Claudia Burriss Williford and Mrs. Anna Belle Holmes.

Mrs. Claudia Burriss Williford Mrs. Claudia Burriss Williford graduated from Reed Street School.Then she attended Haynes Institute for one year.She graduated from Morris Brown College where she received an AB Degree in Education.Her first teaching job out of college was a Rural Deep Creek School where she taught 1st Grade.Some of the students she remember was the late Rev. Larry Humphrey, Bishop B. T. Cunningham, Mrs. Mattie Watson, the Moss family and others.She remained at Deep Creek Rural School for about ten years.She then was hired at her former Alma Mater, Reed Street School, where she remained until her retirement around 1941.
