According to Charles Williford, governor of District 7720, who is coordinating Rotary's disaster response in the area, "Rotary clubs around North Carolina and the country have responded with donations and offers of assistance. One club from Charlotte sent a truckload of supplies for area residents and within one hour everything was gone."Clubs in the area most affected by the flooding joined together to create a disaster-relief fund with an initial contribution of US$18,000.The fund is being distributed to people and small businesses severely affected by the storm. The clubs also are distributing supplies and other items to those in need. For example, a Rotary club in Greenville coordinated distribution of bedding, paint, and building supplies.Other clubs were arranging donations of furniture from area furniture manufacturers.
