"I had looked at other places, but this is such a good fit," Williford said."I'm very blessed to have gotten the job."
Because Williford does not want to "mess up a good thing," parents and students will not see any major changes at the school.
"The staff is a blessing, our kids are performing at above grade-level in every area and the facilities are top-notch, comparable with those that any public school has to offer," he said."But of course, it's any educator's job to constantly upgrade the program."
Some of those upgrades include joining several educational associations to take advantage of their resources and opportunities for teacher development, Williford said.
"We also added Harcourt math to supplement the Investigations math we use," he said."The teachers requested that before I came."
After his time serving in public schools, Williford said he is looking forward to being able to express his faith at St. Cyprian's.
"(The Rev. Doug Tucker) has gotten rave reviews in chapel , that's a strong point of the school," he said."There's a spiritual aspect that we can talk about here.I think that's critically important."
Williford and his wife, Sherry, a radio and television instructor at Stephen F. Austin State University, have two children.
