Karl Williard, a forestry professor, said this year's relatively small pay increases are probably not powerful incentives for professors to work harder on enrollment. However, if the enrollment increases were larger - making the pay raises bigger - the financial incentive could be more significant.

"Perhaps when we start hopefully heading toward the bigger enrollment increases, that will be more of an issue," Williard said.
