HMV manager Martin Williamson said that he expects the crowds to resemble the turnout for the launch of U2's most recent album, Pop.

~"We opened at midnight for that one and it was like a Saturday afternoon with so many people about.

"And sales of that album have been flying this week as the concert approaches - we are low on supplies now but are waiting on another order to arrive."

The record store boss advised fans to snap up tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

HMV store manager Martin Williamson said: "The launch of the album has created enormous interest from the U2-loving public.Everyday people are asking staff when the album will be going on sale."

Mr Williamson said they decided to open the store at midnight to give fans in Northern Ireland a first chance to get a copy, as the album is being released on Monday for sale.

Fans have also been glued to the listening posts at Virgin Megastore in Belfast.
