A resident of Salado, Margaret Bowles Williamson grew up in Belton.During her adult years, she and her husband, Mike Williamson, lived in Houston where she was an educator and realtor. For her enjoyment of the arts, she became an accomplished artist of china painting and needlepoint and helped teach senior citizens needlepoint and design for 15 years.Upon retirement, she and Mike returned to Bell County. She was then able to resume her long-standing love of photography and in 2002 embarked on the study of the classic black and white photograph. She likes to capture the essence of a beautiful scene, the subtleties of light on an object and the inner character of a person.Margaret also photographs historical places and images that reveal her heritage.
Some of her newest images incorporate old and new family photographs with an article that once belonged to the person in the photograph.
"My interest in photography is to look at my surrounding environment and possibly catch a moment or a hidden composition one would not easily see, to explore the beauty of a simple leaf, a white flower or the lines and form of a rock," she said.
