Luther L. Williamson
ROANOKE – Luther Lee Williamson, 78, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.He was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church (and its John Draper Sunday School class), an Army veteran of World War II, a retired driver for Greyhound Bus with 32 years service and a supervisor of Patron Service with the Roanoke Civic Center.Luther was a member of Williamson Road Lodge 163 A.F. & A.M. and Webber Hi 12 No. 282 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies (where he was manager of the stage and costume committee), a member of the Roanoke K.C.C.H., a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple (where he was a former member of the Arab Marching Patrol and a past director of the Koppers Unit), a member of the Roanoke Elks Club, a member of the Williamson Road O.E.S.No. 119, president of the Roanoke Greyhound Retirees Club, a member of the A.T.U.No. 1493, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the American Legion.Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents, Luther D. and Hattie Williamson, and a brother,W.F. "Bill" Williamson.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Zelma H. Williamson; two daughters, Anna Lee Boyle and husband, James, of Richmond, Ky., and Cheryl Sue Fields and husband, Jimmy, of Ashland, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Ann Sperry and husband, Rick, of Huntington,W.Va.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special step-grandson, Nathan Sperry of Huntington; two sisters, Helen W. Herndon, Gainesville, Fla., and Eula W. Gladin and husband, Bill, of Gainesville.
Funeral services will be condcuted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Oakey's North Chapel with Dr. Darryl G. Crim officiating.Entombment with Masonic Rites will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
