One thing Kevin Williamson has learned since he graduated in 1992 is that working at the Wildcat was "an invaluable experience."Kevin worked in advertising at the Daily Wildcat for nearly four years, under the late George Morley. He started as an ad proofreader, then sold ads for a year and a half before being promoted to sales manager. He served as sales manager and business manger for two years.Kevin said he didn't realize until several years after he left the Wildcat just how valuable working at the Wildcat was.Learning about sales and how to get along with people "meant a lot to me," he says.It also helped him learn what he did and did not want to do in his life."It was an amazing experience."
Kevin recently made a generous donation to the Daily Wildcat Alumni Fund. When he received our fundraising letter, "it made me stop and think about how much I got out of working at the Wildcat. It was more than just a paycheck."He contributed because he wanted to help give others the same opportunity he had."It was a good investment."

In 2000, Tallan was sold to technology giant CMGI.Kevin stayed on as CIO for Tallan, then decided it was time to change directions, and spend more time with his family. He and his wife Marcia have three sons, ages 2, 5, and 7.Kevin is now chief financial officer for Compass Mortgage, in Chicago."I like change," he says.He had never been a CFO, but was hired by someone who was willing to let him learn."It's been fun."
