Know Your Board - Kent Williamson, Arvest Bank

Kent Williamson Head ShotKent Williamson, executive vice-president of lending and Chamber board member, has worked for Arvest Bank for 13 years and described his employer as the ultimate community bank.Williamson manages the lending departments of all five Springdale branches and the 23 lending officers within the city's branches."We are a large bank and can finance large loans, but we are also as local as your typical small bank," Williamson added.

"Our goals as a bank are to maintain a community concentration and to remain a customer focused bank," noted Williamson.In regards to future growth, he mentioned plans for a new Arvest branch to be built in Tontitown."My objective as a board member is to preserve the hometown feel of our city while attracting more jobs and industry to Springdale."

Williamson is the past president of Kiwanis, current board member of the Arkansas Aviation Technology Center, past board member of the Washington County Library Board, and an active member of First Baptist Church Springdale."My hobby is my kids and their many activities, mostly sports."He enjoys fishing, golfing, hunting and snow skiing when he gets the chance.

Williamson was promoted to executive vice president , loan manager.He has been with Arvest Springdale Bank & Trust since 1992 , most recently as senior vice president and loan manager.Don McNaughton , a longtime Realtor , joined the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad's management team to explore opportunities associated with the Railroad's real estate.McNaughton owned and acted as principal broker for a regional real estate concern.His credentials include designation as a graduate of the Realtor Institute and Certified Residential Specialist.Tim Graham II and Kim Lindey received awards from their employer , The Griffin Co..Realtors.Graham , an associate with The Griffin Co..Realtors , was named top listing associate for his August accomplishments.

NAATC board chairman Kent Williamson said his board has also agreed to transfer control of the school to NWACC.

The aviation school approached NWACC about the transfer.

Williamson said the main motivation had a lot to do "with the economies of scale."The aviation school is currently a stand alone entity, and it needs a partner to ultimately succeed, he said.

The aviation school was established in 1999.

Following the Sept. 11 tragedy, the school struggled with recruiting new students, Williamson said.

"The best strategic longterm way to make it work is to partner with another institution," Williamson said.

NWACC was an obvious choice from the start, he added.

The college had already been partnering with NAATC in two ways.

Given the fact that NWACC has already been sending students to the aviation school through outsourcing and has a more "technical" oriented curriculum than a university, it was the obvious choice to take control of the school, Williamson said.
