  Jim WilliamsonJim Williamson received a degree in electrical engineering/computer design from Ohio State University and began his career at IBM as a systems engineer.In 1968 he moved to Boston to work on the late phases of NASA's Apollo project at Raytheon and MIT's Instrumentation Lab.He was a founding member of Urban Sciences, Inc., where he worked on a variety of projects applying technology to urban problems.
  
  In 1979 he started the Williamson Group, a firm dedicated to the development and installation of and training in computer systems for non-profit organizations.During the 1980's, the Williamson Group became one of the leading firms in the country in the application of computer technology to fundraising.In 1991, the Williamson Group was acquired by John Snow, Inc., of Boston, a management consulting firm that works in the public sector and with charitable organizations.Mr. Williamson became Chief Executive Officer of the new firm, JSI Fundraising Systems, Inc., which provides software, training, and consulting services to over 500 nonprofit organizations throughout the country.Presently, Mr. Williamson is the vice president for Information Services at John Grenzebach Associations, Inc.
  
  Mr. Williamson has served on CAST's Board of Directors since 1991.

  Having been born and brought up on the site, the business is you could say "in the blood".Fourth generation within the industry, Jim has personally taken the business to dizzying heights of success.Qualify with distinction in city & guilds floristry examinations, he went on to become the youngest ever to win the British Florist of The Year competition not once but twice, the youngest to hold the National Diploma of the Society of Floristry, and twice represented the UK at the World Florist of the Year competition held every 4 years.
  
  He has had enormous influence on the florist industry and its development of design led floristry over the years, having contributed to industry standards and designed for many world wide design publications.
  
  More recently he has devoted his expertise along with his sister Carol to expanding the company to now be the largest independent retail florist in the country.

  Jim Williamson formed Williamson Consulting, Inc., in June of 1998 to continue his information technology consultation as an independent practitioner.Jim's career, which spans more than thirty years, has focused on the application of information systems to support the effective management of nonprofit organizations.Since 1979, he has worked exclusively in the area of information systems to support the fundraising efforts of these organizations.
  
  Jim's primary goal with Williamson Consulting is to assist institutions, and their development offices in particular, in facing the complex issues related to information systems and their effective management.Among the range of services Jim offers are information technology reviews, which can include assessments of current systems and the review of business processes, staffing plans, and organizational structure.Jim also can provide assistance with the acquisition of a new fund-raising information system, including requirement analysis, the development of the RFP, the assessment of vendor proposals, and implementation planning.
  
  Prior to forming Williamson Consulting, Jim was Senior Vice President for Information Services and Managing Director at Grenzebach Glier & Associates, a national philanthropic management consulting firm.While there, Jim provided consultation services to a wide range of nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on higher education.Jim also oversaw the firm's Technology Services Group.
  
  Prior to joining GG&A, Jim was CEO of Williamson Group, one of the leading firms in the nation in applying computer technology to fundraising.The firm focused on the development, installation, and training of computer systems for fundraising, fund accounting, and other administrative functions for nonprofit organizations.Before establishing the Williamson Group, Jim was engaged in independent consulting, primarily for the public sector and for Public System Evaluation, Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  
  Jim is a frequent speaker at national and regional fundraising conferences of CASE, NAIS, and NSFRE.He is a member of the Board of Directors of a number of nonprofit organizations, including CAST, on whose board he has served since 1991.
