Jeff Williamson has been appointed the new principal of Old Adobe Elementary School and vice principal of Miwok Valley Elementary School by the Board of Trustees of the Old Adobe Union School District.
Williamson will devote 60 percent of his time to Old Adobe, and 40 percent to Miwok Valley, assisting new principal Kim Harper, who will be spending 40 percent of her time as the district's director of curriculum, said Super-intendent Diane Zimmerman.

Williamson most recently served for five years as vice principal in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. He previously worked for nine years in the King City Unified School District, teaching intermediate grades and serving as the district's technology mentor and the Title VII coordinator, in which he established a center for English learners. He also has written several grants and mentored new teachers.
As principal, he will work with the staff to set up the Music in Education technology laboratory. The Old Adobe district has purchased a classroom set of Yamaha keyboards and the articulated K-6 music program as part of its "Focus on Fine Arts" effort.
"Jeff's extensive background in technology will be most helpful in the early stages of program implementation," Zimmerman said.
He also has demonstrated a strong ability to work with children and adults. In 2003, when he was assigned to Cleo Gordon Elementary School, it was languishing with low test scores and many out-of-control children.
"Working together with the principal, they turned the school around, reducing suspensions by more than 75 percent," Zimmerman said.
Williamson will begin his new job in August. He has visited Old Adobe School to learn about its programs and meet students and staff members.
