    He's right.

    Washington state and its students should not be punished for embracing education reform a full decade before the national push.

    Educators, school administrators, parents and students must not be sidetracked by the new federal law.If they continue their focus on academic excellence and accountability, conflicts with the federal education reform effort will be minimal.
