Penny Feathers, emergency services manager for the South-East and Glynis Williamson, emergency services manager for East Anglia went to 10 Downing Street to represent the 50 volunteers who helped at the incident but were unfortunately not able to attend the evening reception.

Glynis Williamson is WRVS' emergency services manager for the east of England.In the early hours of Sunday 11 December 2005, she received the call from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue to help at the scene of the explosions at Buncefield fuel depot in Hemel Hempstead.

Glynis WilliamsonAt 8am I received the first hint that something might be going on when I received a call from a local team leader in Watford.She had been woken up by the explosion and before ringing me had already phoned round her team to put a crew on standby in case we might be needed, so the team were ready and waiting if I got the call.
