  A native of Homer , La. , he was born March 11 , 1944.He received a chemical engineering degree in 1967 from Louisiana Tech and earned a master's degree in 1992 in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow.
  
  Williamson joined Texas Eastman Division , Longview , Texas , in 1967 in engineering and construction and was moved to chemical manufacturing operations in 1977 , where he held positions as department superintendent and division superintendent before being promoted to director , olefin plastics business teams , in 1987.
  
  Three years later Williamson was named assistant to the president of Eastman Chemical Company.In 1992 he was named vice president of manufacturing for the Asia Pacific region.He was based at Eastman's regional headquarters in Singapore , where he was responsible for selecting plant sites in Asia Pacific and served as managing director , Eastman Chemical Asia Pacific Pte.Ltd..
