According to Ohio Democratic Spokesperson Gabrielle Williamson, "We have yet to see the Republicans get rid of their bad apples," and the facts bear out her observation.[2] On the local, state and federal levels, Republicans will tell any lie, break any law, and rig any election to consolidate and abuse their authority over regular citizens.

In Ohio, Democrats are officially "neutral" about the DLC and its New Democratic movement, but party members did attend the DLC's recent annual meeting in Columbus, according to party spokeswoman Gabrielle Williamson.

Williamson is not hip to "progressive patriotism" or the DLC's major policies, but did applaud the council's efforts to reinvigorate Dems nationwide.

"[The DLC] is not a splinter organization," Williamson said."Many groups are working to unify Democrats, and it's working. What Democrats want is a vision and strong policy ideas for this country, and folks will be attracted from all different backgrounds and [party] wings, and those in the middle ground."

Williamson also predicts that red Ohio will go blue in 2008.

"Ohioans have had enough," Williamson said."There's been a disappearance of jobs in Ohio, and young folks are leaving for job markets elsewhere.Ohio is ripe for change, and what you see is that the climate is ready to change from Republican to Democrat."

Williamson added, "The beauty of being a Democrat is that we draw from so many various experiences and policy positions. It's a blessing that we have such a varied field of Democrats."

Williamson believes that the varied field of Democrats and their viewpoints serves the party well.
