Dr. Doug Williamson, a research scientist at Eli Lilly and Co., says his native Scotland celebrates two big holidays a year: New Year's Eve and poet Robert Burns' birthday.

The fact that the two are separated by only a few weeks (Burns was born Jan. 25, 1759) can mean a lot of celebrating in a short span of time, but that didn't stop Williamson from donning his kilt last weekend for the annual Burns Supper.

Williamson, who was born in Dumfries, Scotland, and worked summers helping his grandfather maintain the Robert Burns Museum, took part in some of the evening's formal activities along with his wife, Dr. Sara Corya.
