"This is one of the better situations I've ever run across, because when the football coaches tell those kids we'll let you do track, by God, they let them do track," said Arkansas track assistant Doug Williamson, who coaches sprinters and hurdlers."The kids aren't having to run back and forth between track and spring football, and that's critical because you can maintain a continuity in their training regime."

Williamson said when he coached at Alabama from 1986-97, he didn't get much cooperation from the football coaches.

"I had to schedule a time through the football office just to talk to a player there about track," Williamson said."Here, Coach Nutt comes to the meets and watches practice once in a while. He's into it, which is awesome.

"Comparatively speaking, it's like I died and went to Heaven."
