Local 3M plant manager Dennis Williamson nominated the school, which has received a large pile of glue sticks, Post-It Notes, sketch pads and other items.

This rendition of every teacher's dream was made possible when Dennis Williamson of 3M nominated the school in the "Supplies for Schools" program offered by the company.

Williamson found out about the program at a recent corporate meeting and couldn't pass up the chance to help Fairmont's schools.

"It is a national program that targets locations with a plant," Williamson said.

FAIRMONT -- New Fairmont 3M plant manager Dennis Williamson has made his way back to his native Minnesota after spending two years as plant manager in Monrovia, Calif. Full story.

Fairmont 3M plant manager Dennis Williamson presented the $10,000 check last week to Larsen and board member Randy Quiring.

Fairmont 3M plant manager Dennis Williamson credited the Fairmont 3M CARES organization for raising a considerable amount of money for the effort.

Donors included retired 3M employees and their spouses and current 3M employees.The 3M plant budget provided the remainder of money needed to reach $2,400, to pay for all the supplies.

Williamson said 3M CARES president Lavonne Bowman led the initial effort.

Science teacher Steve Lebert applied for a 3M Ingenuity Grant and was recently presented with a $2,600 grant from Dennis Williamson, manager of the 3M plant in Fairmont.

A few items have been bought with the grant, and many will be ordered this summer for use in the next school year.
