• A letter from Christine Williamson, Program Co-ordinator for the Marmora and District Adult Activity Centre, asking for permission to continue using the Robert Empey Hall as a home base met with a favourable response from council.Deputy-reeve Terry Clemens mentioned that the works department which operates from the same building, "had nothing but good things to say about the whole program."Clemens said he had not had any complaints from any of the clubs which also use the facility, concluding, "They have a nice little garden and they are a wonderful asset to the village."• Similar letters from Crowe Valley and Quinte Conservation Authorities requesting support for watershed-based protection of drinking water sources resulted in a request for a representative of one of the authorities to explain the proposal at the August 18 meeting. The Deputy-reeve indicated he had some concerns regarding a resolution that had been passed by Conservation Ontario and circulated for support to municipalities, wondering if future building permits, severances and well drilling could be impacted.
