  In February last year International League for the Protection of Horses Field Officer Chris Williamson was asked by the RSPCA to attend premises at Bolton House Road in Bickershaw where Bridie, a 15 hands high cob mare was kept.
  
  The horse was found to have large masses of granulated tissue in the bulb of both front feet and her left hind foot, and there was an overpowering smell of infected tissue emanating from the wounds.

  On 17th August 2006 ILPH Field Officer Chris Williamson and Inspector Port of the RSPCA visited Mr Miller's yard at Hurdles Farm in Cloughfold, Rossendale, where they found a 21 year old 12hh grey Welsh pony mare in a filthy stable which had clearly not been mucked out for some time.

  Their 16.2hh 21-year-old Thoroughbred gelding called Dusty (pictured below) was found in an emaciated state by International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) field officer Chris Williamson and RSPCA inspector Ian Robertson on 28 September last year.

  Chris Williamson , the regional ILPH Field Officer added , ·In the past , welfare cases from the North and the Midlands had to travel to our R & R Centres at Hereford , Aberdeen or Norfolk , all of which were huge distances , even for fit horses.Having a new ILPH Centre in this area will not only mean that rescued animals will travel a much shorter distance but those people wanting to offer loan homes will be able to come here rather than Centres further afield.

  ILPH Field Officer Chris Williamson was sent to investigate and he found the abandoned pony, known as Frankie, a 13 hh bay 7 year old stallion, which was removed to ILPH Penny Farm near Blackpool for safe keeping.

  Chris Williamson, an ILPH field officer involved in the case, told HHO: "It was horrific to see dead horses in varying states of decomposition, while other emaciated creatures walked around among the carcasses."
