Bob Williamson MBA 2002-2003 When Bob left Citigroup in March 2002, he had every intention of walking straight into a comparable job elsewhere. With "Citigroup Private Bank, Head of Investment Counselling" topping the careers list on his CV he had no trouble getting interviews and was, in due course, offered three good jobs. However, at the back of his mind was a strong desire to do something really challenging and entrepreneurial. After speaking to several good friends, who had each successfully developed their own businesses, the consensus was - do an MBA at a top school.Bob chose Tanaka. Now, a year after finishing the MBA he has set up his own venture - 'All-Unied.com' - which offers international students an integrated range of products and convenient services to help them acclimatise and maximise their time studying in the UK.Bob conceived the initial idea - leasing bicycles - whilst studying for his MBA at Tanaka. He then expanded the original concept to include all the bulky or fragile items that students struggle to carry to university and store during the summer break. The ideas for the final business were honed during the time he undertook his two electives - Entrepreneurship and Customer-Focused Strategy.Whilst carrying out numerous exercises during the two specialisations, Bob realised the potential for the business. Finally, after an in-depth study of the market for his dissertation, including a survey of nearly 2,000 students, Bob launched his company.
