Liz Williams has held senior management positions in both for-and non-profit companies, including Random House books, Sounds True audio, Hospice of Boulder County, Girl Scouts and most recently at Pacific Pride Foundation in California. She relocated to Bozeman in December of 2005 to become Director of Development and Operations for GYC.

Born and raised in New York City, her earliest conservation work was joining a committee to care for the sole tree that the City gave her block association in the late 1960s.Her mother taught her to garden by installing planters in their 6th floor windows, where she tended a batch of Morning Glories every Spring. While it was not a naturalist's childhood, she learned the importance -- and joy -- of protecting and caring for nature despite inhospitable conditions.

She didn't get out West and to Yellowstone until 1991.But like so many others, she fell in love with both the place and the wildlife there, especially the great, free-roaming bison who graced the land with their iconic and powerful presence.Moving to Colorado in 1996, she got a horse and togther they explored the back country of Boulder county every weekend.Their trips into the forest remain one of Liz's most valued memories; it was her first explosure to the extreme beatuty and holiness of the wildnerness.

Now at GYC, It is her privilege and honor to help protect the wildlife and the land of the greater yellowstone ecosystem.

When not working at GYC, Liz is down in Yellowstone National Park, learning to cross country ski or at home, reading and writing about the connection between nature and mental health.
