    Created by award-winning photojournalist Lisa Maree Williams, THE PLAYERS captures the creative pursuits of students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.The exhibition consists of a dynamic series of character portraits of the 2006 graduating acting students, along with reportage.

    Lisa Maree Williams, whose work has been published by The Australian, The Australian Financial Review, CNN, New Idea, The Australian Photojournalist, Revive Magazine and Coca Cola, shot the exhibition as part of her work as a contributing photographer with international photo agency Getty Images.

    LISA MAREE WILLIAMS | BIOGRAPHY

    Lisa Maree Williams launched her photographic career at 21 as a Photographer's Assistant in Queensland.After a couple of years of learning the trade she moved on to study photojournalism at The Queensland College of the Arts in Brisbane.

    Lisa was offered a cadetship with The Sunshine Coast Daily Newspaper (Australian Provincial News Group) in 1998.She accepted the opportunity and went on to work as a staff photographer covering news, features and sport, and now credits it as a crucial time in learning to shoot well and fast.

    In 2001 Lisa decided to pursue freelance opportunities and travel, until in 2003 when she was invited to rejoin APN News Group in the debut launch of a lifestyle magazine in Queensland.Lisa became the Chief Photographer of Revive Magazine, giving her the opportunity to explore portraiture and feature work.

    In 2005 Lisa joined international photo agency Getty Images as a contributor, and relocated to Sydney in 2006 to focus on photojournalism.Lisa enjoys telling stories through photography and where possible she prefers to capture candid moments.She is always working on personal projects around commissions and is drawn to cultural and contemporary issues.

    Over the years Lisa has documented some of Australia's most popular events: The 2000 Paralympics, The 2006 Commonwealth Games, Splendor In The Grass Music Festival, Big Day Out, The Woodford Folk Festival, Coke Cola Live, The Noosa Festival of Surfing and The Noosa Film Festival, to name a few.

    Lisa was awarded the Australian Photojournalist Association Documentary Award in 2003 for her work on East Timorese refugees living in Brisbane.Titled 'A Second Home' ,this black and white series will be on exhibition in 2007 at the Gallery of The University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

    Lisa has also been recognised for her press photography, being named Australian Provincial Newspaper Photographer of the Year in 2000, and has been a Hurley Award recipient on various occasions throughout her career.
