AVERY WILLIAMS is a 1979 magna cum laude graduate of Michigan State University.He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.
Mr. Williams concentrates his practice in environmental law and litigation, commercial and general business litigation, and eminent domain law.He is lead counsel for the Department of Water & Sewage (DWSD) and at the forefront of the department's recent efforts, successes and accomplishments in the environmental arena.Specifically, the DWSD has been at the leading edge of the complex issues involving the reduction of water pollution in southeast Michigan.
Mr. Williams has also represented the City of Detroit, the Detroit/Wayne County Stadium Authority and several large national corporations in various eminent domain-related cases, including the dual Stadia Project and the Waterfront Reclamation and Casino Development Project.
Mr. Williams is admitted to practice before all Michigan courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
A frequent author and speaker, Mr. Williams' articles have appeared in numerous professional journals, including Michigan Hospitals and the Health Administration Press.
Mr. Williams is a Charter member, Director, and Past President of the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association and a former Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Michigan Black Law Alumni Association.
Mr. Williams is also a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Association.
