Ms. Kimmika L.H. Williams

Kimmika L.H. Williams brings her unique sensibility about, and synthesis of, history, culture, women and the world to her performance.Williams, who holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology and an M.F.A. in Theatre, is the author of eight volumes of poetry, and her work has been published in more than 12 anthologies.She has had 14 of her plays produced, including Survival Strategies at the Triangle Theatre last year, and has performed in many of them.A 2000 winner of the Pew Foundation for scriptwriting, Williams is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Temple University.

Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon, Ph.D (Anthropology), M.A. Anthropology, MFA (Theater),Graduate Certificate)Women's Studies, B.A. (Journalism); is an Assistant Professor in the Theater Department at Temple University.A 2001 Independence Foundation Theater Communications Group Grant, the 2000 winner of the PEW Charitable Trust $50,000 fellowship in scriptwriting, and the 1999, winner of the DaimlerChrysler "Spirit of the Word" National Poetry Competition (Seattle) at the Unity'99 Conference, Kimmika Williams has also been the recipient of a host of awards and honors, including: the DaimlerChrysler Regional Poetry Contest (Philadelphia), the 1996, Lila Wallace Creative Arts Fellowship with the American Antiquarian Society and a two-time returning playwright with the Minneapolis Playwrights' Center and Pew Charitable Trusts Playwrights Exchange.

Winner of the $50,000 PEW Charitable Trusts Fellowship in the Arts for Scriptwriting(2000); the 1999, winner of the DaimlerChrysler "Spirit of the Word" National Poetry Competition at Seattle, Washington's Unity'99 Conference and the DaimlerChrysler Regional Poetry Contest for Philadelphia, the 1996, Lila Wallace Creative Arts Fellowship with the American Antiquarian Society and Dr. Williams-Witherspoon is also a two-time returning playwright with the Minneapolis Playwrights' Center and Pew Charitable Trusts Playwrights Exchange.

A one time Arts Producer for public radio, she was also cited for outstanding journalism by the Philadelphia Veterans Administration.And she has stage credits.

Poems selected from both "Kiss of God" and "A Good Kiss" were beautifully read by Ms. Kimmika Williams from Darby, PA.She is an Assistant Professor in Theatre at Temple University, has been honored with numerous awards and is the author of eight poetry books.Her readings brought Marshall's words to life!It was absolutely wonderful.After hearing Ms. Williams, Troy and Charlie were so inspired that they have asked her to possibly make a CD of Marshall's writings.
