Rita Williams-Washington came to Sierra Adoption Services in June of 1998 as a social work supervisor. She graduated from San Francisco University with a B.A. and San Francisco State with her MSW.
Rita grew up with foster children, as her parents were foster parents, she saw them make a difference in the lives of many children. Her parents also own and operate Williams Preschool and Kiddie Kare where Rita worked as a preschool teacher and the director.Throughout her life, her parents have been her greatest inspiration.
Rita chose to go into social work as she felt it provided the avenue for her to continue working with families and children. Her additional experience includes working as a facility manager of a group home, and as a recruiter, trainer, and administrator with foster care agencies.
Rita's favorite part of working at SAS is being able to be a part of a permanent plan for a child. She appreciates her staff and enjoys supporting them and values their support of her.It is very satisfying for her to see her staff be part of a finalization of an adoption and their excitement in making a difference.Rita is constantly rewarded by her efforts to bring a child and a family together.
Family is very important to Rita. She is married to Lee, the most wonderful man in the world. They celebrated their five-year anniversary on March 19th.She also is fond of her white German Shepherd named Promiss.Rita also enjoys spending time with her very large extended family. She has 27 aunts and uncles and more than 75 first cousins.Rita is involved with her church where her dad is the pastor and works with the youth and sings in the choir.
To relax Rita goes shopping! She especially enjoys shopping for others. The staff here can attest to that as Rita helps to make everyone at SAS feel special on their birthday and on other important occasions. Her kindness and generosity are always very much appreciated.
Sierra Adoption Services is thankful to have Rita as a part of the staff.
