Jelena graduated with an MA in both Russian Language and Russian Literature from Tartu University.
Jelena has experience of lecturing in many different Universities, mainly in Estonia, but also in Sweden and Denmark.She has worked for several years for the National Examination and Qualification Board of Estonia, producing and publishing closed material for them, a role she continues to play whilst in England.She has studied the Galina Kitaygorodskaya method of intensive language teaching for foreign students, and is the co-author of a text book "Two way Russian English course for beginners" (Tallinn 1992), based on this intensive teaching method.
For the last couple of years, Jelena's main interest has been Business Russian, and she has designed a new module on this topic which will be taught at the University from autumn 2004.She teaches Russian at all levels from beginner to post graduate.
Jelena is a member of the ILT (the HEA as from September 2004).Her administrative responsibilities include being the Year Abroad Tutor, and also for the organising of the Department's Sixth Form Open Days.
